  The rivers in the Gisborne district have some of the highest sediment loadings of any river in the world. This makes the rivers of particular interest for scientists and others who are studying soil types, land use, the effects of erosion, and other factors related to sedimentation.

  Hydro-Technologies staff are skilled in collecting and analysing suspended sediments during flood conditions.
